RACE REPORT | F1 Bahrain 2024

Red Bull has started the new F1 season in style. Just like last year, Max Verstappen won the opening race in Bahrain, followed by his teammate Sergio Pérez. Ferrari's Carlos Sainz rounded out the podium.

Although the free practice sessions did not indicate that Red Bull would dominate in Bahrain, the opposite was true.

This was confirmed in qualifying, which was won by Max Verstappen. Behind the Red Bull driver, Charles Leclerc, of Ferrari, and George Russell, of Mercedes, were lined up for pole position. Carlos Sainz and Red Bull co-driver Sergio Pérez completed the top five.

The start of the Bahrain Grand Prix went best for Max Verstappen, who took advantage of the start from pole position with ease.

The Dutchman was followed by Charles Leclerc at the start, but soon began to suffer from brake problems. George Russell, his teammate Carlos Sainz and Sergio Pérez, who was showing the strength of Red Bull in the race, gradually got ahead of the Monegasque.

While Max Versappen, in first place, was gradually increasing his lead, behind him there was a battle for podium positions. Pérez eventually managed to work his way up to second, confirming Red Bull's excellent start to the season.

Sainz came in third, followed by Leclerc, who was able to sort out his brake problems in the final stages of the race to get back ahead of Russell.

Points for sixth place went to Lando Norris, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri. Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll completed the top ten.

"I think today it went even better than expected. I think the car was really nice to drive on every compound and I think we had a lot of pace. And yeah, it was super enjoyable to drive today. We really stayed out of trouble. It couldn't have been better," said the race winner Max Verstappen after the race.
